About the event
Book Conversation at The Byre: Our Oaken Bones
We’re delighted to support our neighbours at The Byre as they host an evening with Merlin Hanbury-Tenison, who will be discussing his remarkable new book Our Oaken Bones. Merlin and his team’s work restoring our local Bodmin temperate rainforest has become legendary among the research community. Their deep care for both land and people shines through in everything they do and the book captures that spirit beautifully. A gifted storyteller, Merlin brings science, history, and hope together in a way that’s both moving and profound. A conversation not to be missed.
About the author: Merlin Hanbury-Tenison is a Cornish conservationist and veteran, and the founder of The Thousand Year Trust, Britain’s rainforest charity. Its mission is to triple Britain’s rainforest cover to one million acres within the next thirty years. His work has been featured in National Geographic, The Guardian, and on the BBC. Merlin lives in a Cornish rainforest with his wife Lizzie and their two young daughters.
