About the event
Join us for Stitching Stories, a new monthly club where conversation, creativity, and quiet concentration meet. You don’t need any stitching experience, just a willingness to play with words and thread. Lead by stitching wonder: Katie Goddengreen.
Bring with you a fragment: an old proverb, a line of poetry, a song lyric, a spell, or even a phrase that has lived long in your heart. Together, we will embroider these words into squares of antique hand-woven linen, each one becoming a keepsake: a charm, a memory, a story made tangible by sharing it with others.
This isn’t about neatness or precision. It is about giving language a body, watching letters bloom into texture, colour, and pattern. One stitch after another, your words take on a presence you can hold in your hands. And as the months go on, our Stitching Stories will form a patchwork of voices, a tapestry of folklore and memory, personal and collective.
£20 per person, all materials provided.
Simply bring the words that matter to you. The rest will unfold in thread.

Katie Goddengreen is a multidisciplinary artist who draws contemporary meaning from so-called “old-fashioned” techniques. After 25 years of teaching art to teenagers, she has stepped into her own practice, beginning a postgraduate Masters in Fine Art at Arts University Plymouth. Her work moves between the familiar ground of printmaking, ceramics, and textiles, and the more uncertain terrain of soundscape and film photography. Rooted in deepest North Cornwall, Katie’s current research explores local rural folklore.
